Perhaps in the past you pitied the poorly paid pith helmet wearing skippers of the Jungle Cruise in Adventureland. Historically they have had trouble making ends meet in between their chartered river excursions. Fortunately their employer, the River Expedition Company, is opening a new business nearby. And that means job opportunities for all.
While rolling down the rivers of the world, the skippers are known for serving up groan-inducing puns. However these Jungle Cruise skippers soon will have grown into an extra role – moonlighting as servers at the Magic Kingdom’s next restaurant, “Skippers’ Cantina!”
Indeed, after a revolving door of tenants, the Adventureland Veranda has found a permanent resident! Previously (Rumors! Will the Jungle Cruise Skippers be Moonlighting as Servers?) we floated rumors about a Jungle Cruise themed restaurant, and we can now CONFIRM this rumor to be truth!
“The new restaurant will be tentatively called the “Skipper’s Cantina,” and be themed around the near-by Jungle Cruise attraction.” ~ WDWNewsToday
Now there are more rumors about what is in store for these supposedly underpaid skippers! WDWNewsToday is speculating that Skippers’ Cantina will take after the Be Our Guest restaurant in Fantasyland, and serve a counter-service lunch and a table-service dinner. And with the positive feedback of the new Be Our Guest breakfast, I wouldn’t be surprised if the skippers add breakfast too!
My biggest question is, when will this new restaurant open? Rumors say possibly as early as November 2015!
You can bet we will let you know as soon as we hear more about this breaking news!
