If you are like me, you have been trying to process all of the amazing information that was revealed at the D23 Expo 2015. Disney, as usual, is at the forefront of the interactive entertainment industry, and these exciting advancements in technology were announced at D23. Here’s what gamers have to look forward to:
Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition:
Disney Infinity’s popular interactive gaming platform will expand this year with the release of Disney Infinity 3.0-Star Wars Saga. All your favorite Star Wars characters can interact in new, exciting adventures set in various Star Wars locations from the mega-popular films. And the best news … you can get you hands on this soon, with the release set for August 30. The Toy Box mode will continue to be available, where gamers can interact with other Disney favorites including the newly available characters: Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps (Zootopia); Spot (Disney-Pixar’s The Good Dinosaur); and limited edition Star Wars figures that light up in the Infinity base.
Disney Playmation
Video gaming technology is constantly evolving, and Disney Playmation Marvel’s Avengers Gamma Gear takes gaming to a whole new level. Playmation incorporates real physical movement into imaginative play (parents everywhere likely just collectively jumped for joy). The game uses motion-sensing technology to guide gamers into the action of battle through Gamma Gear worn on the player’s hands. Gamma Gear helps players battle while following commands to jump, crawl or shoot enemies. Adding to the realistic feel of the battles are vibrations and sound effects, immersing the gamer in the adventure. The Starter Pack includes Gamma Gear, 2 Power Activators, 2 Smart Figures (Captain America and Iron Skull), instructions, and 25 embedded missions. Additional figures such as Black Widow, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk and many others can be purchased separately. Systems are reportedly in the works for Star Wars (2016 release) and Frozen (2017). The Playmation Marvel’s Avengers Gamma Gear will be released in early October and is currently available for pre-sale from Amazon as well as the Disney Store.
Star Wars Play Station® 4 Bundle
Star Wars fans are getting a whole lot of love from Disney this year as they offer gamers the widely praised Play Station® 4 system complete with Darth Vader’s image, as well as a controller modeled after Vader’s suit. The limited-edition bundle includes not only the Star Wars themed system and controller, but two exciting new games: Star Wars: Battlefront and Disney Infinity 3.0 Star Wars Saga. The bundle is slated for release on November 17, just in time to make the holidays very merry for your own galactic hero at home!
Kingdom Hearts III
Set to release at the end of this year, the newest incarnation in the Kingdom Hearts franchise will include Baymax and other characters of Disney’s Big Hero 6. The announcement surely excited fans of the film who will explore and role-play in a world based on the popular Big Hero 6 film. The game will pick up after the events of the film as gamers will find Baymax being manipulated by Darkness. The addition of a world based on Disney’s Tangled had been announced prior to D23.
