I was lucky enough to attend a fan event with an advance screening of Captain America: Civil War on April 29, 2016 at AMC Downtown Disney 12 in Anaheim, California hosted by Disney Parks Blog.

Walt Disney Studios did an incredible job with PR for this movie, asking fans choose their side. For weeks now #TeamCap and #TeamIronMan hashtags have been flooding social media as Marvel fans declare which side they are on, in anticipation of the newest Marvel hit Captain America: Civil War.  We are a family divided … my husband and I are firmly on #TeamIronMan while my oldest daughter has backed #TeamCap since the beginning.

All Guests entering Downtown Disney District on Friday were greeted by a DJ on the Downtown Disney Live stage hosting a Captain America: Civil War party that included freebies, a dance party and trivia with prizes! Guests were given the opportunity to join #TeamCap or #TeamIronMan with a special picture, and check out special Marvel merchandise like the Build a Bear Captain America Bear or the RIDEMAKERZ IronMan car.

Disney Parks Blog Fan Event – Captain America: Civil War

The select group of us that were attending the Fan Event started lining up at 2pm for check-in and received credentials along with coupons for a free small soda and small popcorn! We entered the theater where the trivia games continued and prizes were awarded.

Then the lights dimmed and BOOM! the action began!

I won’t go into details but the movie is filled with emotions … you will be laughing, crying and erupting with anger multiple times through out the show.

The Avengers we have grown to love didn’t let us down and gave us the outstanding performances we have come to expect. Captain America and Iron Man bring the story to life and make you question your loyalty, no matter which side you are on.

Now, I do not know anything about Marvel Comics, so I went into this movie knowing nothing about Black Panther. And I walked out adoring him … again I don’t know his story beyond what we learn in this movie, but now I can’t wait for the Black Panther movie which is set to release July 6, 2018.

The biggest question mark in Captain America: Civil War is the new Spider-Man. This is a hard one for me. I have always been loyal to the Toby Maguire Spider-Man movies … but Tom Holland may have won me over with his small appearance in Civil War. He has embodied the part and is geeky, funny and just downright amazing!

I blindly chose #TeamIronMan at the beginning, basically because I’m not a fan of Captain America. But after seeing this movie I am 100% invested in my choice. My husband, daughter and I discussed the movie for almost the entire hour-and-a-half ride home. Emotions ran high as my daughter defended #TeamCap while my husband and I never wavered from #TeamIronMan.

I absolutely L-O-V-E-D Captain America: Civil War and all I can say is GO SEE THIS MOVIE! I know I will be seeing it again when it opens this Friday, May 6, 2016.
