It’s that time of year again … No, not back to school, it’s Disney Parks Moms Panel Search time! Round one for the 2017 Disney Parks Moms Panel search opens at noon ET on September 7th, 2016 and will close at noon ET on September 14, 2016.
Not a mom, but know tons about Disney Parks? Don’t worry the panel is open to those knowledgeable Disney moms, dads, grandparents, aunts, uncles – just about anyone with a wealth of Disney knowledge.
What is the Disney Parks Moms Panel
Disney understands that Guests have many questions when it comes time for a Disney Parks vacation and the Moms Panel is there to help! Guests can send in their questions to Panelists on the DisneyParksMomsPanel.com website and the panelists will answer. Currently there are four languages supported on the website, English, Spanish, French and Portuguese. Panelists specialize in Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, Disney Vacation Club, runDisney or the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.
How to be Disney Parks Moms Panelist
Since 2008, Disney has conducted a search for those bursting with Disney knowledge who love to help plan magical vacations. Typically the application process is broken up into three rounds in which Disney MP Hopefuls show off their writing skills, personality and Disney knowledge.
Round One – The Application
This is where Hopefuls get to choose the specialty to apply for. There is no changing specialties once the application is turned in, so choose wisely! Round One consists of a handful of questions that require essay answers, but be careful of the word count. The questions have strict word count requirements and you cannot go over them. There is usually one sample Moms Panel question included in Round One. Round One is open to everyone that meets the qualifications.
Here are just a few of last year’s qualifications. This year’s will not be put out until applications open.
- Visited the Disney Park you are applying for within the last 12 months. (Disney World Hopefuls have to have visited Disney World, Disneyland Hopefuls have to have visited Disneyland, etc.)
- IF applying for Disney Cruise Line or Disney Vacation Club, your last cruise or DVC stay has to have been within the last 24 months.
- You cannot be an active Travel Agent.
- You cannot currently work for, or have an immediate family that works for, Disney or a Disney affiliate
Round Two – The Video Round
This is a time of celebration and heartache as the first round of cuts happen. Those receiving a Pixie Dusted email will be asked to answer a few more questions with written essays, but there will also be a video question. Last year’s video question for Walt Disney World Resort was “What sets Walt Disney World Resort apart from any other vacation destination for you and your family?” This had to be answered in a video no longer than 60 seconds!
Round Three – The Telephone Interview
There really isn’t much to say about Round Three. A small group will make it this far and once at this stage, it becomes very personal. The Pixie Dusted email will contain instructions on how to proceed to set up the practically perfect phone interview. Each interview is different and there aren’t any predictions on how someone’s interview will go.
Making the Panel
Probably the most emotionally charged part of the process. Unfortunately, not everyone from Round Three will make the panel and that leads to a bunch of mixed emotions. Obviously those that don’t make the panel are heartbroken after putting everything they have into the application process, but also excited to see who made the panel. Those that make the Disney Parks Moms Panel are, of course, overjoyed but they also know that those that didn’t are struggling and they feel for them.
Many of our Magical DIStractions writers have applied in the past and some have made it to Round Three, but haven’t made the panel. There are a handful that will be trying again!
The motto of the Disney MP Hopefuls comes straight from every Disney Lover’s idol, Walt Disney.
