I have been asked – “What’s your favorite ride at Walt Disney World”. I have such a difficult time answering that question. Even if I get to choose one at each of the four parks, it’s hard to do. I have different favorites depending on my mood, who’s riding along, what time of day is it, what mood am I in!
Let me start by saying – the first attraction visited on virtually every Walt Disney World vacation is Pirates of the Caribbean at the Magic Kingdom. Is it my favorite? It’s one of my favorites, but THE favorite? No, there are probably others that are ahead of that one.
Okay, let’s narrow this down a bit. Let’s concentrate on the Magic Kingdom for this article. Pirates of the Caribbean is the first attraction that my son, Jeremy, who is now 12 years old, experienced at 5 weeks of age. It will always hold that special place in my heart. It is always a must-do when we get to the Magic Kingdom.
I love roller coasters. So Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is also a favorite. I love the theming of the ride, even as you wait in the stand-by line. THE one? Hmmm, I’m not sure. Splash Mountain is also a favorite, especially in the Florida heat. The attraction is just over 10 minutes long. The 52 foot drop – I love it! Space Mountain? In the dark, not knowing what’s coming next – what’s not to love!
The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is a new crowd pleaser. I like it – the rocking, the twists and turns, but the ride itself is pretty short. It is a great addition to the new Fantasyland. Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin is big fun and great competition. I love trying to outscore the others in my group. Then there are the classics. Dumbo the Flying Elephant is great for all ages! Tomorrowland Speedway is a ride that my son and my husband must ride every visit. The Hall of Presidents is a great place to rest and enjoy the amazing audio-animatronics. “it’s a small world is probably one of the most recognizable attractions, not to mention the song! The Walt Disney World Railroad, Peter Pan’s Flight, Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room – there are just so many attractions to choose from!
This is only a partial list of attractions and at just one of the parks of Walt Disney World resort. So can I pick a favorite? For me, it’s like trying to pick a favorite child. Okay, Jeremy is my only biological child, but I also have three adult stepsons. I can’t pick a favorite. That just wouldn’t be right! So, I have favorites, of course. But I can’t single out just one. But if I were in the Magic Kingdom right now, I’d probably be heading over to Frontierland to ride Big Thunder Mountain Railroad…
So, what’s your favorite?
So true Mary! How can we ever pick one favorite ride? Too many to choose from and they are all amazing in their own way!
