Being a Disney Vacation Club (DVC) member has afforded me the opportunity to stay at all of the DVC resorts at Walt Disney World, with the exception of the new Villas and Bungalows at Disney’s Polynesian Village. Each resort offers amazing amenities and reasons to stay. Here are my top reasons for loving a stay at Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort.
1. Location!
Bay Lake Tower is a 5-10 minute walk away from the Magic Kingdom. You can also hop on the monorail from the 4th floor of the Contemporary. But I love that once the fireworks are over and the huge crowds are making their way to the various modes of transportation to get back to their resorts, I can take a leisurely stroll along a lit sidewalk to get to my “home” at Bay Lake Tower.
2. View from your Villa
Whether you get a lake view or theme park view, it’s a lovely setting. Personally, I opt to use fewer points and stay in a lake view villa. Enjoying my morning coffee on the balcony, overlooking either Bay Lake or the Seven Seas Lagoon is a lovely way to start the day.
3. Top of the World Lounge
On the top floor of Bay Lake Tower, the Top of the World Lounge is a great place to have a frosty beverage, some light appetizers and enjoy the view of the Magic Kingdom. As you might have guessed, it’s a fantastic place to catch the fireworks without dealing with huge crowds.
DIStracted Tip: Most days of the year, you can go to the Top of the World as long as you are a DVC member. You check in at the lobby of Bay Lake Tower and someone escorts you to an express elevator to the 16th floor. However, there are a few blackout dates when you must be staying at Bay Lake Tower to access the Top of the World.
4. Bay Cove Pool
The pool is a good size, has a fun water slide and a zero entry area. There is also a toddler water spray area. They usually have a ping pong table available when you just want a little distraction from the pool. At different times during the day, Cast Members hold pool parties with fun for all. There is also the Cove Bar so you can grab a quick lunch or snack or a beverage without having to leave the pool area.
5. Access to Disney’s Contemporary Resort
Just take the short walkway and you will be in Disney’s Contemporary Resort with all the amenities it offers. Whether you want to have dinner at the California Grill, character dining at Chef Mickey’s, or do a little shopping in the gift shops, staying at Bay Lake Tower offers a deluxe experience.
