This past Christmas during our Walt Disney World® Resort vacation, the adults in our group gave ourselves a gift: some downtime at La Cava del Tequila. Tucked away, almost hidden inside the festive marketplace within the Mexico Pavilion at Disney’s Epcot® Theme Park, La Cava del Tequila is an oasis for adults, a sort of Neverland for grown-ups. Well, at least for those who enjoy a drink or two! La Cava del Tequila opened in 2009 and has become one of the most popular spots to enjoy an adult beverage in all of Epcot. The space is relatively small, dimly lit and rustic. Dark wooden tables and ceilings complement brick and terra cotta walls. Seating is limited to maybe a dozen small tables with chairs on one side and a comfortable leather booth circling the perimeter of the room, but most guests don’t stay too long with the rest of Epcot’s World Showcase to explore.
Our group of seven adults visited on Christmas Day. Our kids are teens and pre-teens now, and decided to wait in the stand-by line for Test Track … on Christmas Day … at 5:00 … without their parents! Needless to say, their long wait bought us plenty of time to relax and check out La Cava del Tequila. While many patrons take drinks to-go, we were able to grab a table all of the way in the back of the room. The area around the bar is roped off for crowd control. Yes, the drinks are that good, so lines can be long and crowds plentiful.
DIStracted Tip – If you plan to drink alcohol, be sure to have your driver’s license or passport on hand to prove you are 21 or older. They do card!
In addition to over 100 types of tequila – margaritas, specialty cocktails, wine, beer, and a tasty menu of appetizers is available. Despite having just finished an amazing Christmas dinner at Teppan Edo, we had to try some warm chips with guacamole and salsa – funny how they disappeared so quickly! The drink choice was much more difficult. I had been dreaming of a Blood Orange Margarita, but made a game-day decision and went with the Pomegranate Margarita which was quite tasty, but pretty sweet. Even with choices such as the Pineapple Margarita or even a Jalapeño Margarita, the unadventurous among us stuck to the Classic Margarita. My sister-in-law had been looking forward to trying the Avocado Margarita, but sadly it wasn’t as good as she had been hoping. The consensus was that it tasted more like cucumber than avocado.
DIStracted Tip – For about $22.00 you can taste three different types of tequila. The La Cava Tequila Flight includes three shots served on paddle with a sangria chaser and fresh lime. This is a great way to sample the different types of tequila and still be able to walk a straight line (well, maybe!).
Overall, La Cava del Tequila is a hidden gem in Epcot, and a favorite must-do for us. Typically open from 12:00 noon until 9:00 pm, it is a tasty spot to relax and enjoy Mexico’s national drink.

The Jalapeño margarita is quite good, even though I don’t like super spicy things. It still has a kick so be prepared but wow, one of the more creative combos I have had
