This weekend, the breaking news from the D23 EXPO in Anaheim, California has been coming at record speeds! There is great news for movie-goers with the announcement of live action film slates made jointly by Disney, Marvel and Lucasfilm.
The presentation was led by Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios who gave the crowd a glimpse into the world of Marvel’s Doctor Strange. The first look at the film included a video greeting by Benedict Cumberbatch who stars as Doctor Strange, followed by a pre-production piece that gave fans a sampling of the look and feel of the film. Doctor Strange is slated to open in U.S. theaters on October 26, 2016.
Mr. Feige also delighted the D23 EXPO audience by introducing Chris Evans and Anthony Mackie who came on stage to help him unveil never-before-seen footage of Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War. Captain America: Civil War picks up where Avengers: Age of Ultron left off. Steve Rogers will lead the new team of Avengers as they continue their mission to protect humanity. A new international incident will result in collateral damage, which fractures the Avengers while they attempt to protect the world from a “new and nefarious villain.” Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War stars Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlet Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Emily VanCamp, Don Cheadle, Jeremy Renner, Chadwick Boseman, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Rudd, Frank Grillo, Tom Holland with William Hurt and Daniel Bruhl. The film is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo and produced by Kevin Feige. It is executive produced by Louis D’Esposito, Alan Fine, Victoria Alonso, Patricia Whitcher, Nate Moore and Stan Lee, and the screenplay is written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. Captain America: Civil War will open in the US on May 6, 2016.
