My family loves to go to Walt Disney World. There really is something for everyone. Walt Disney had a vision to create a place where families, kids, and adults alike would have fun. I could talk about all of the attractions that appeal to all ages, the different resorts available, the amazing dining opportunities, the entertainment, and the shopping. This list could go on.
I’ve decided to write about something that I enjoy when on vacation – frosty beverages. To me, a frosty beverage is any drink that you have to be 21 years old to order. It doesn’t have to necessarily be frosty (like wine) but I just like saying “frosty beverage.” There are so many choices available when visiting Walt Disney World. If you haven’t read Christen Francis’s article, Epcot’s Wine Walk, you’ll want to check that out. Katy Melcher wrote a great article about La Cava del Tequila.
There are many opportunities to try beer, wine, margaritas, martinis, and all types of specialty drinks. There are too many so I’ve decided to list five favorites. Keep in mind, this list could change after my next visit! Or it could change depending on my mood or what I’m having for dinner. I always like to try new things.
Mary’s Five Frosty Beverage Picks:
Jalapeño Margarita
La Cava del Tequila and San Angel Inn (Mexico Pavilion in Epcot) – This was a new one for me. I tried it for the first time this past summer when having lunch at San Angel Inn. It sounded intriguing. I love spicy food and I love a good margarita. Why not try the two things together? I asked the waiter what it was like. Never be afraid to ask your server about food and/or beverages. I’ve found that they can be very helpful and very honest. As he told me, the spice level can be different depending on the jalapeño used in the preparation. I like spicy so I didn’t hesitate to try it. It was very refreshing. The cucumber and agave nectar made it a wonderful drink in the heat of the summer and the jalapeño gave it just the right amount of spice.
Grey Goose Slush or Grand Marnier Orange Slush – France Pavilion in Epcot
This is a long-time favorite and is truly a “frosty” beverage. There is a lemonade version made with Grey Goose citron or an orange version made with Grand Marnier. It’s a toss-up as to which one is my favorite. They are frozen and heavenly! They can be found at the Les Vins des Chefs de France kiosk.
Glow-tini (many locations)
This drink is definitely on the sweet side and pretty much considered a classic at WDW. I love to have it at night because it comes with a glowing ice cube (hence its name). I think it’s the glowing cube and the blue color that I love. The blue color comes from blue curacao. And it’s made with pineapple juice which I really enjoy. This drink is available from many different restaurants and lounges throughout the Walt Disney World Resort.
Beer Flight at Via Napoli (Italy Pavilion in Epcot)
I went to Via Napoli for the first time this past summer. I never went before because I thought “well, it’s just pizza.” No question, I was wrong. The carciofi pizza which is, according to their menu, “white pizza, artichoke, fontina, mozzarella, truffle oil” was so delicious. You can watch them make the pizzas in their open kitchen. But about the frosty beverage … What goes better with pizza than a nice cold beer? How about a beer flight! Being at an Italian restaurant, I like to order a Bellini (head to Tutto Gusto Wine Cellar – they make a great one). But I had to try the beer flight and I was not disappointed. There were three distinctly different beers, all very enjoyable. I’m not sure if they change the beer flight selections, so ask your server.
Margarita Flight at the Hollywood Brown Derby Lounge in Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Try three margaritas at once? Yes please. I love a good margarita, so what was there not to like about having three? The margaritas offered in the flight can change, so ask your server. I hope they have the mango margarita because that was one of my favorites. They also offer wine, champagne, scotch and martini flights.
There are so many great choices to enhance a meal, or to sip while walking around the World Showcase at Epcot or strolling along the Boardwalk watching the street performers. What is your favorite frosty beverage?

Mary, we tried to duplicate the Grand Marnier Orange slushy at home…close, but not the same. Guess we will have to keep trying!

It’s always fun to try. I recreated the Glow-tini and came pretty close.
