A highlight of any Disney Cruise Line vacation to the Caribbean or Bahamas is a stop at Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay. Castaway Cay is a great place to spend the day with the whole family, but you may be missing one of its hidden gems if you have never visited Serenity Bay.

Serenity Bay is the adults-only part of the island reserved for Disney Cruise Line guests 18 and over. This secluded retreat features a bar, food, and is home to the Senses Spa Oceanfront Cabanas. But, perhaps the best part of this tropical oasis is the fact that you will find a peaceful respite from the sometimes busy cruise ship.

A not-so-crowded beach day at Serenity Bay

My husband and I visited Serenity Bay on our second cruise to Castaway Cay. When we made our way over there in the morning, we were stunned to find an almost empty beach featuring the same turquoise, tranquil waters that you would find on the rest of the island. We quickly treated ourselves to a morning cocktail and grabbed a chair to take in the beautiful views. Throughout the day, a few dozen adults trickled over to Serenity Bay, but the beach never felt crowded or overrun.

Earlier in the week, we had indulged in a couples massage onboard the Disney Dream in the Senses Spa. When we were leaving that massage, we took advantage of a special offer and booked a couples massage in an oceanfront cabana on Serenity Bay. We anxiously awaited the massage throughout the morning and it certainly didn’t disappoint when our appointment began. The warm, gentle Bahamian breeze and the lullaby of the tropics provided the perfect background for our massage.
