Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, also referred to as (GF) is one of three Deluxe Resorts located on the Magic Kingdom monorail line, and is one of eight Walt Disney World Deluxe Resorts. The average rate per night is approximately $549.67, before tax.  The typical standard room is approximately 448 square feet and can sleep up to five (5) guests. There are 867 guest rooms at the Grand Floridian. The Grand Floridian is known for its elegance, lavish décor, impeccable service and spectacular views. The lobby provides live entertainment from the Grand Floridian Orchestra. The architecture of the resort itself along with the decor define the essence of luxury at Disney’s flagship Resort Hotel.

 

Those who have ever visited the Grand Floridian Resort &  Spa have no doubt seen this familiar smiling face! Perhaps you have received a hug from him as you have entered the lobby. Richard Gerth is a greeter at the Grand Floridian and has been for over 22 years now. On February 26, 2013 Richard was presented with the Walt Disney Legacy Award. This is the highest award any Disney Cast Member can receive. According to Robert Hitchcock of the Disney Parks Blog, “Richard has greeted thousands of guests and assisted thousands of brides with wedding photos on their special day”; “After commenting on how their trip to Walt Disney World Resort would not be complete without seeing him, one guest said to me, “Richard is the Grand (Floridian).”  I wonder just how many of YOU have photos or stories to share about Richard!
