Since we had such an enjoyable time at the Martini Tasting, which you can read about here, we decided to sign up for another tasting on our Bahamian Cruise aboard the Disney Magic. This time we visited guest services to reserve our spot (for a nominal fee) for the Chocolate and Liquor Tasting.
We ended up having a private event, with just my husband, myself and my in-laws! No one else signed up, so their loss was our gain. We were seated in Keys with everything we would be sampling presented beautifully before us. This event was hosted by the sommelier of Palo, so he was very knowledgeable about everything we tasted as well as the history of chocolate, the ingredients in the various products and why they paired well together.
We began with a pink champagne and a white drinking chocolate followed by a red wine paired with a dark drinking chocolate. Both were delicious and we were able to take our time and enjoy them while the sommelier answered all of our questions.
The last two pairings were much stronger. First, we were served a Port which I have never enjoyed. It was paired with a strong parmesan cheese, which I will admit made it more enjoyable. The last pairing was a beautifully smooth single barrel scotch whiskey which was paired with a silky caramel. In a word…YUM.
Tastings are a great way to spend some adult only time while on board the ship. I would recommend any of the tastings offered by Disney Cruise Lines. Try something new! As always, feel free to contact me for complimentary help planning and booking your next Disney Cruise or other magical vacation.
