Welcome to the NEW Disney Springs! Formerly known as Downtown Disney, this area is more than a shopping district. In true Walt Disney World fashion, this area has a back story that helps us understand the “history” of this waterfront town along the coast of Florida. Take a look at this video from the Disney Imagineers:
In this beautiful town there are plenty of places for you to shop, dine and be entertained. There are four outdoor neighborhoods- The Landing, Town Center, Marketplace and West Side. Each neighborhood will reopen in phases and bring the story of Disney Springs to life! Disney Springs will be complete in 2016 and at that point will bring the number of venues in the area up to approximately 150!
A visit to Disney Springs is a wonderful way to start or end your vacation at the Walt Disney World Resort! There is no park admission required, so families can enjoy all the street entertainers- including human statues, musical acts, and even a kids dance party without adding any extra expense. There is also an AMC movie theater, bowling alley and a few rides that do require additional costs.
Disney Springs is THE place for guests and locals to find not only Disney Parks merchandise but fashion brands such as Uniqlo, Sammy Duvall, Tommy Bahama and Lilly Pulitzer. Of course, there are plenty of places to find your perfect Walt Disney World Resort souvenir, such as ornaments, pins, t-shirts and toys!
If you are hungry, Disney Springs will satisfy ANY craving with the MANY options ranging from food trucks and kiosks to counter and table service as well as a few signature and fine dining options. Don’t forget to leave plenty of room for dessert from places like Goofy’s Candy Company, Ghirardelli’s Soda Shop and several other bakery or frozen concoctions offered at Disney Springs!
