On Tuesday (two weeks after announcing the delayed debut of two nighttime offerings at Disney’s Animal Kingdom) the Disney Parks Blog shared news of interim evening entertainment to be offered beginning this Memorial Day Weekend.
Rumors aplenty have been swirling around the delays of the Tree of Life Awakenings and the Rivers of Light show. Personally, I’ve read everything from accounts of faulty wireless tech to the unfortunate sinking of one of the show’s flower barges (all rumors as far as I know). Whatever is causing the delays, starting this Memorial Day Weekend, Disney plans to present “The Jungle Book: Alive with Magic” Show. According to the Disney Parks Blog, “’The Jungle Book: Alive with Magic’ is filled with music and special effects that celebrates the new film and the classic songs, now infused with an Indian influence.” Also included in yesterday’s announcement, the Tree of Life Awakenings appears to be relatively on track with a planned debut of Memorial Day Weekend as well.
In addition to the above offerings, Guests can experience a trek through Kilimanjaro Safaris after dark, enjoy the party atmosphere at the Harambe Wildlife Parti, celebrate Carnivale at Discovery Island, and explore an adventure in international cuisine at Tiffins (the newest restaurant, opening soon, at Disney’s Animal Kingdom).
Historically, attendance at Disney’s Animal Kingdom decreases dramatically as evening approaches. So much so, that it’s often referred to as being a “half day park.” With all of these new and exciting offerings, I have a feeling Guests of Disney’s Animal Kingdom will be on the prowl long after the Lion Sleeps Tonight.
