Epcot’s World Showcase allows Guests to take a trip around the world and experience the history, culture, and cuisine of eleven different countries! Epcot’s World Showcase is a kaleidoscope of nations featuring architecturally authentic buildings and backdrops that celebrate their cultural heritage, arts and entertainment. The 11 nations plus an African-themed Outpost are situated along a 1.3 mile promenade encircling the 40-acre World Showcase Lagoon. Starting clockwise when entering from Future World, the eleven nations represented are:
Mexico, Norway, China, Germany, Italy, The American Adventure, Japan, Morocco, France, United Kingdom, and Canada.
To get a true feel and to experience the amazing sights, shops and attractions, Guests should take their time when touring World Showcase. In an effort to authenticate each country’s culture, the cast members working in the pavilions are, more often than not, from that particular nation. These cast members are more than willing to share their knowledge and stories of their country and it can be quite the treat for Guests to chat with them. The shops in World Showcase sell merchandise that’s unique to their country and offer some of the most diverse and interesting shopping at all of Walt Disney World.
We have dedicated pages for each of the countries and those can be accessed by clicking on the individual countries listed above. Each page contains a wealth of information including information on entertainment, dining, attractions, a gallery of pictures and links to prior articles.
World Showcase opens at 11:00 a.m. and closes at 9:00 p.m. During some holidays, the park will remain open until 10:00 p.m. **Hours are subject to change
WORLD SHOWCASE FOR KIDS
The Disney Imagineers recognized the fact that, while most adults enjoy World Showcase, some children might find it a tad too educational and possibly boring. So, Disney did what they do best and incorporated some fun and interactive activities for children to participate in on their quest around the world.
Passport Kits for kids (and adults too if they would like) include a blank passport book, stamps for each country in World Showcase, a Mickey Mouse button and information about each country. These kits are sold in most retail shops in Epcot and are reasonably priced.
Kidcot Fun Stops are craft stations that are located in each of the eleven countries and provide a place for kids to collect stamps and create a personalized souvenir. Your child can have their Passport stamped and they can also get a complimentary cardboard Duffy the Disney Bear to decorate with the supplies provided at each of the Kidcot station.
Your friendly Cast Member will share insights about his or her native land, such as how to say “hello,” and give your child a stamp of Duffy in each country. Visit each Kidcot Fun Stop to collect them all! (excerpt from the Walt Disney World site).
