Are you looking for a place to dine that’s “different” and not just “ordinary?” Do you want to be transported to a world that you thought you would never see? Well, the Amazonian Delights of the Rainforest Café are definitely not ordinary and you will feel as if you’ve stepped into another world. Walt Disney World Resort has two Rainforest Café locations to choose from: Downtown Disney Marketplace and Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
When Guests walk into the Rainforest Café, they find all sorts of souvenirs to choose from including glow-in-the dark plastic bugs, Cha Cha the frog merchandise (Rainforest Cafe’s mascot) and cute T-shirts. There’s even a talking tree in the store.
Huge fishtanks scattered throughout the store and the restaurant are home to the most beautiful of marine fish who … just keep swimming, just keep swimming … swimming, swimming. Thats right! If you look hard enough you might just see some familiar Finding Nemo characters.
The entire venue is bought to life by animatronic elephants, gorillas, jaguars, crocodiles, birds, frogs, snakes and even butterflies!
Combine those with the tropical fish tanks, indoor waterfall and thunderstorms, and you’ll soon forget that you are in the middle of Walt Disney World. Instead, you’ll feel like you are in the Amazon Jungle!
The menu at the Rainforest Café is a mix of American and international cuisine offering a variety of foods to choose from such as steaks, ribs, burgers, salads, and pastas. The children’s menu offers selections such as grilled chicken, sliders, popcorn shrimp, ribs, chicken nuggets, hot dogs and grilled cheese sandwiches.
The dessert menu has a lot of fantastic choices, but the Rainforest Café signature dessert is the Volcano which is presented in a most colorful way.
When dining at the Rainforest Café, guests have two options . You can make a reservation and eat in the main dining area or you can go straight in and eat at the bar and sit on one of the many funky stools. Of course this depends on availability of bar seating when you arrive.
We have opted for the bar each time we visited and it has proven to be a great experience. This is especially true if it’s quiet. You really get to know your waitstaff during those quieter times. We had such a memorable experience on one visit when it was quiet and we got to try some new tasty delights.
DIStracted Tip: The Disney Dining Plan is accepted at Rainforest Café using one Table Service Credit per person.
