As much as we love a Disney property sometimes staying off site has been a better option for us. The most recent time we chose this route at the Disneyland Resort we went with The Anabella. We chose a Conceirge Room for a 4 night stay. To be clear, concierge at The Anabella is not like Disney concierge. There is no lounge, but it does come with a few extra perks like breakfast for two and late check out. Disney classifies The Anabella as a Moderate Good Neighbor hotel.
Our room was a great size at more than 350 square feet for our family of 4. It had a queen bed, a full size bed and a pull out sofa. It was nice that the kids didn’t have to sleep together. The room was clean, but did have issues that I hope they have since addressed. For example, it was clear there had been previous water damage in the bathroom and the closet door wouldn’t close.
The room did have a wonderful little patio with a small outdoor table and chairs and a chaise lounge. I highly recommend ordering breakfast to go and enjoying the beautiful weather and breakfast outside on your patio. The food included in our package was 2 adult breakfasts (choice of continental or eggs, potatoes and toast). We would order two kids meals as well and that menu included choices like waffles and even Mickey shaped pancakes.
Another thing we really liked about this property was the Nectarine Bar. Located outside near the pool, they have outstanding Happy Hours….that’s right, Happy HOURS. 7 days a week from both 2:30 to 6 AND 9 to close, they offer $5.00 specialty cocktails and appetizers. My husband and I would enjoy a cocktail on our patio when we would return to our room for nap time. Many of the appetizers were large enough to make a meal out of and we often did so before heading back to the parks. They also had some kid friendly options like mini corn dogs and fries. This was a great money saver!
Overall, I would say The Anabella fits the definition of a moderate, Good Neighbor hotel. The rooms need some sprucing up, but they were clean. The walk to the parks was an easy one, less than 15 minutes, especially when cutting through Disney’s Grand Californian Resort & Spa into Downtown Disney. The perks of breakfast, along with great Happy Hours do even more to make this a budget friendly choice. As always, I’m more than happy to help you choose and book a Good Neighbor hotel on your next trip to Disneyland or help you plan your trip to any magical destination!
