Go with an empty stomach to enjoy one of my favorite dining spots at Disneyland Park. Big Thunder Ranch BBQ is an all-you-care-to-enjoy family-style feast. My family tends to go for a late lunch and just have a light snack instead of dinner. Upon arrival, a Ranch Hand will seat you at a picnic table where you’ll dine on tin buckets full of BBQ chicken, ribs, cole slaw, beans and cornbread. Non-alcoholic beverages are also included and served in mason jars. The atmosphere is relaxed enough that we don’t worry if the kids get up to move around and dance to county music often performed from the Big Thunder Ranch BBQ stage.
Dinner offers the same menu as lunch with the addition of smoked sausage and corn on the cob. There are also vegetarian skewers available if there is a vegetarian in your party. We love Big Thunder Ranch BBQ because it is a meal even our picky eater likes and we always welcome a meal that doesn’t include chicken nuggets and fries. The meat is tender and well sauced, the sides are delicious and the corn bread is some of the best I’ve had anywhere. The servers come by often to check on drink and food refills. Feel free to ask for more of whatever you’d like and it will come out hot and delicious.
Dessert is also available for an extra charge. They look amazing and I’m told my eyes do not deceive me, but so far we’ve always been too full to try one. They are family sized with options like s’mores bake and seasonal cobblers.
Lunch here will run you about $23.99 for adults and $11.99 for children while dinner is about $29.99 for adults and $12.99 for the kids. Currently they offer a 10% discount for Disney Visa Cardholders as well as Annual Passholder discounts. Big Thunder BBQ does not offer doggie bags, but I saw a smart guest at the table next us to pull some ziplocs out of his backpack and pack up the meat and cornbread to go. It surely would make a great late night snack!
As always I would be honored to help you plan and book your trip to Disneyland (including dining recommendations and reservations) or to any other magical destination.
