Thanks to the Consumer Electronia Show we are learning a few secrets about a new attraction making its way to Disney parks.
According to reports, Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) is working with Disney Imagineers on a new boat ride attraction. Industrial Light & Magic was founded by George Lucas in 1975 and was acquired by Walt Disney Company in 2013 along with the purchase of LucasFilm. This connection is leading many to think that the attraction ILM is working on is part of the new Star Wars Land.
While Disney isn’t giving many clues or hints about the upcoming attraction, Jon Snoddy, Disney EVP of Imagineering, said that the new ride will be “unprecedented, in a way.”
“It will be a boat ride where the boats are controlled down to millimeters to precisely align them frame by frame to this ILM giant projection that will be able to determine exactly where peoples’ eye are to give a sense of depth in 3D” (Jon Snoddy, quoted by The Drum)
Now, it is known that Disney is planning a boat ride attraction for Pandora – The World of Avatar in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park, so Industrial Light & Magic could, of course, be teaming with Disney for the Avatar ride.
We’ll be sure to update our site as soon as more details are revealed!
