Tucked outside the busy atmosphere of the Walt Disney World Parks, inside Disney’s Beach Club Resort you’ll be greeted by the old-time Atlantic shore décor and a gem of a character breakfast. Cape May Café is a beautiful nod to a quaint beach setting with pastel colors and beach theming throughout. Here you’ll find Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy ready to greet breakfast guests sporting their best beach attire!
DIStracted Tip – If you’re resort hopping to make it to this character breakfast, the best strategy is to get to Disney’s Hollywood Studios and then take either the Friendship Boat Launch or the walkway to Disney’s Beach Club Resort.
The food at Cape May Café features both traditional breakfast buffet finds in Walt Disney World as well as a few specialty items. In addition to Mickey waffles, eggs, sausage, and bacon, you can also find fish, artisan cheeses, capers, and unique breads. We were pleasantly surprised at how hot and fresh all the food was considering we didn’t have a reservation until 10:45 AM and the restaurant “closed” at 11:00 AM. Despite the late reservation, we were not rushed by the characters or the wait staff while the buffet remained hot and well stocked.
DIStracted Tip – Make a late breakfast reservation to save money. Character breakfasts are typically the cheapest character dining options and a late breakfast may mean that you can skip lunch that day!
Of course, what makes or breaks a character meal is the interaction with the characters. All of the characters here were playful and took their time visiting. In fact, since this is a much less-crowded experience then some other character breakfast options, each character visited our table at least twice and some even made it back a third time. While there are no Disney PhotoPass photographers with the characters, our waitress was more than happy to take pictures so the whole family could get in the shot.
Overall, we really enjoyed our breakfast at Cape May Café and look forward to returning again in the future. This is a nice alternative to Chef Mickey’s as it has three of the “fab five” characters, is budget friendly, and also is an easier dining reservation to grab. Next time you’re looking for a relaxing and laid back character breakfast, swing by the seashore and see what Minnie, Donald, and Goofy have to offer!
