A 36 year old Davenport, Florida man died this afternoon while riding as a passenger in a Lamborghini at Walt Disney World’s Richard Petty Driving Experience. It is being reported that the driver failed to maneuver the high-powered sports car through one of the course’s curves, and the vehicle’s right side struck a guardrail. The passenger was pronounced dead on the scene. The male driver was taken to Celebration Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries. No names have been released at this time. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash remains under investigation.
The Richard Petty Driving Experience is a thrilling (expensive) experience where guests can pay up to $2500 for an opportunity to drive NASCAR cars or ride shotgun at speeds up to 165 mph. Guests can drive Ferraris, Lamborghinis and Porsches at the exotic driving experience.
The Richard Petty Driving Experience is scheduled to close on June 28th to make way for transportation improvements.
