One of my favorite signature dining experiences is dinner at California Grill at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. If you have ever dined at California Grill, you know that you will have a magnificent view of the Magic Kingdom as well as Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. When I heard the announcement about adding a Sunday brunch, I knew I wanted to try it on my next trip. This summer, my husband and I had the opportunity to experience it. We were not disappointed!
Upon our arrival, we were offered a mimosa on our way to be seated for brunch. My husband and I both accepted. During our meal, we were offered another, but we both declined so we would have enough room for all of the food available for brunch. There were a lot of offerings!
Upon being seated, our server presented us with a menu. In addition to all of the buffet items, we also had a choice of an entree which would be brought to our table. Our server never made us feel rushed, letting us partake of the buffet items before bringing our entrees to us. I opted for the eggs benedict topped with lobster and my husband chose shrimp and grits. We also ordered a side of cherrywood bacon.
First of all, this isn’t your standard buffet. Each station was a masterpiece of freshly made items. Because California Grill has an “on stage” kitchen, you could easily see all of the chefs at work. There was a Bloody Mary Bar as well. The bartender would use your choice of vodka to make your beverage and then you can choose from the add-ons to customize your drink. I didn’t try one this time, but if we have brunch here again, I will certainly partake. I can see this in my future.
The buffet included a charcuterie section, salads/deviled eggs/shrimp tempura section, smoked salmon/greek yogurt/bagels/fresh fruit section, and assorted sushi section. I’ll admit that I had to walk back and forth at least twice just to absorb and figure out where to start!
We began our brunch (after a sip or two of the mimosa) with selections from the buffet. You can return to the buffet as many times as you want. Our server also brought breakfast breads and pastries to share.
After partaking from the buffet (at least twice for us), our server asked if we were ready for our entrees. Yes, we were!
Our server also brought french press coffee – one of my favorite coffees in the world. This, too, was refilled upon request. All of the food that we tried was fantastic. The brunch was satisfying and delicious and our server was spot-on perfect.
Once we had our fill, our server appeared with a plate filled with desserts. Every table receives the same dessert selections with more than enough for your group size. This plate was for just two of us. Tables with more Guests received more pieces.
To add to the entire ambience of the meal, there was also live music. The musicians were very talented and the level of the music was perfect to allow for easy conversation.
The brunch is fairly expensive, but given the service, food and overall atmosphere, it was well worth it to us. Mimosas and coffee are included in the price, but other beverages are an additional cost. Cost is $80 for adults, $48 ages 3 to 11 (subject to change).
Have you tried brunch at California Grill? What did you think?

Thanks Karen! You will love it! The sushi alone made it worth it to me! The lobster eggs benedict was fantastic too. I loved watching the chefs at work too.
