When I started planning our most recent trip to Disneyland Resort I knew finding a budget-friendly place to stay was going to be a challenge. We’re a family of 5, and finding a hotel that has 2 beds and at least a pull-out couch can be challenging.

I knew of one place within walking distance to Downtown Disney, but when we stayed there in 2009 it was pretty run down. I started pricing hotels online. Finding a place where one child didn’t have to sleep on the floor or on a rollaway wasn’t panning out for me.  I decided to check out the place we had stayed in 2009, the Eden Roc Inn & Suites. While the reviews weren’t great they did seem to get better over the past months, and the motel was going through some major renovations.  I decided to take a chance and book it for the Star Wars Half weekend.

The Eden Roc Inn & Suites is located at South West Street and Katella Avenue, within an easy walking distance to Disneyland Resort.  There is a family restaurant right next door, and plenty of others within walking distance.

When we got there we were pleasantly surprised to find that the lobby was absolutely beautiful compared to what it had been previously.  The staff was friendly, and the manager talked with my husband about all they were doing and what they would be offering in the future.  Our room was ready before the standard check-in time of three o’clock, and that worked out perfectly for us.

Updated modern decor

We stayed in a family suite with two queen beds and a pull-out sofa.  The room was huge and had updated modern décor.  It was very clean, and looked brand new.  The room had a small refrigerator and a microwave, but was lacking some standard comforts like a telephone and coffee pot.  We were told by the manager that once the renovations are complete these items will be in each room.  They do offer a small continental breakfast in the lobby that includes coffee and muffins.

We loved the location, room and staff.  We definitely will stay at the Eden Roc Inn & Suites again. For larger families looking for an affordable location, I encourage everyone to give the Eden Roc Inn & Suites a chance!
