“Laugh and learn as Simba teaches Timon and Pumbaa an important lesson about the environment.” (Excerpt from Walt Disney World website)
Circle of Life An Environmental Fable went down for refurbishment on February 7, 2016 for what Disney said was “part of our continuing efforts to exceed the expectations of our Guests.” Lots of rumors were swirling that the closure was permanent; however, several websites are now saying that the Epcot Times Guide shows a reopening date of April 23, 2016. Further, there are reports that the film will be the same and the only changes that were made were to the theater itself. The stairwell in the theater was brought up to ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) code, as well as installing new carpet and railings.
The film, a 20 minute presentation, features a mix of animation and live action which appeals to all ages. Simba explains to Pumbaa and Timon that “Hakuna matata may be a good philosophy for everyday situations, but choosing not to worry about our planet could spell disaster!” The panoramic film includes footage shot in over 30 countries and is a great introduction to the concept of eco kindness.
