My kids have never been into Character Meet and Greets in the parks. They will oblige me and strike the occasional pose if requested, but they certainly don’t care enough to wait in line. As much as I would love those shots, we aren’t going to force the issue, so they are few and far between. When I saw the long lines at the Character Meet and Greets on our first Disney Cruise I knew it wasn’t going to happen this time. So we enjoyed our time aboard the Disney Magic sans characters until…
The Farewell Party – On a whim, after we had already gone back to our stateroom and gotten the kids in their jammies I decided to take my daughter down to the Farewell Party. My husband and 3 year old were already half asleep. We enjoyed the little show with all the characters and some special Mommy/Daughter time. Then much to my surprise they said “For the next 15 minutes the characters will spread out for photo ops”. Everyone was there. The Fab 5, princesses galore, Peter Pan and Captain Hook, Stitch and more. We were able to get pictures with anyone our heart desired in no time. Of course, my daughter was sporting her My Little Pony PJs in all of them, but you can’t have everything!
Maybe this is just the case on the Disney Magic, maybe the Farewell Party just wasn’t well attended on this particular cruise, but if you want lots of characters with little wait I’d certainly give it a shot. I know we will be sure to attend the Farewell Party on our next Disney Cruise. This time, without PJs.
