Slowly details are being leaked about the possible plot of the newest Pirates of the Caribbean movies, Dead Men Tell No Tales. We learned a few of these details from one of the newest cast members, Brenton Thwaites (The Giver). According to Screenrant.com, Brenton is playing the movie’s young male lead, who has been rumored to possibly be Will Turner’s son. He said he didn’t know much of the story’s plot, but did give this little tidbit.
“It’s about a young man who wants to reconnect with his father, Davy Jones. There’s a curse that prevents him from doing that. I think it’s about how he goes around that and tries to fix it and he has to save his dad. I’m looking forward to it. It’ll be a lot of fun!”
Does this mean a return of one of our favorite Pirates alum? Orlando Bloom has recently said that “there have been talks of him returning” but as of now nothing has been confirmed. We can all hope that it’s time for Davy Jones to return to land, since it seems Dead Men Tell No Tales is going to be revolving around Will and his son.
Now here is what we do know everyone’s beloved swashbuckling Captain Jack Sparrow (played by Johnny Depp) will be returning, and it is expected that his frienemy Captain Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush) will also return. We also know that Javier Barden will be playing the newest villain, Captain Brand in the newest installment. As of yesterday it was confirmed that Kaya Scodelario who recently starred in The Maze Runner will be joining the cast of the new Pirates movie.
Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Men Tell No Tales is set to start production in Australia early this year, and is scheduled to be in theaters July 7, 2017.
