On April 22, 2016, Rivers of Light will make its debut at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park! For Disney history buffs, the date should come as no surprise. April 22, 1998, Earth Day, is the date that the park opened its gates to Guests so it is only fitting that the Park’s first-ever nighttime show will be take place on the park’s anniversary.
As Magical DIStractions reported in December 2015, major changes are coming to the park and one of the slated additions was Rivers of Light. Disney Parks Blog describes the show as follows: “The show, set on Discovery River in the Asia section of the park, will depict an ancient lantern festival guided by two storytellers who call forth four animal Spirit Guides: an Asian Tiger, Tropical Turtle, African Elephant and Great Horned Owl. These Spirit Guides return at different points during the show to lead the audience through their journey through the Rivers of Light.”
They even shared a sneak peek at the nighttime spectacular!
