Last week I got to explore Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa, and had the opportunity to dine at ‘Ama’Ama. This gorgeous restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The ‘Ama’Ama chefs highlight the Hawaiian culture by using fresh local ingredients in their creations.
DIStracted Trivia: ‘Ama’Ama is a local Hawaiian mullet fish
‘Ama’Ama is nestled in a little corner, and is designed to look like a little beachside cottage right down to the thatched roof. Once you step inside you are transported to a upscale Hawaiian restaurant with views overlooking the Ko Olina beach.
DIStracted Tip: Ask for oceanfront seating, and enjoy the breathtaking views as you dine.
As we arrived we were greeted by the friendly hostess, and quickly taken to our table. I was dining with a friend and her young daughter, and I was extremely impressed with the choices for kids.
My friend, Christina who lives in Honolulu, adores the ‘Ama’Ama Chopped Salad, and orders it on almost every visit. The ‘Ama’Ama Chopped Salad has crispy wonton strips, bacon, chopped tomatoes, avocado, egg, furikake, capers and is topped with housemade ranch dressing.
I ordered the Upcountry Romaine Caesar Salad, which was delicious! I added chicken to my salad for a small upcharge ($2), but if you could choose to add the daily Hawaiian sustainable catch or local prawns (upcharge of $4 each) if you wanted.
Each of the kids meals come with a beverage, entree and your choice of an appetizer or dessert. Christina’s young daughter, Audrina, choose the cheese pizza and the create-your-own kebab for dessert. While the pizza was your average kids meal pizza, I was blown away by the little create-your-own kebab dessert! It came with little brownie bites, pineapple bites, marshmallow bites, with a chocolate dipping sauce and a Mickey Mouse head straw to use as the stick.
DIStracted Trivia: Keiki means kids in Hawaiian
Disney has once again outdone themselves with the wonderful atmosphere, mouthwatering food, and amazing view, and I highly recommend dining at ‘Ama’Ama on your next visit to Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa!
DIStracted Tip: Advance dining reservations are highly recommended! Reservations can be made online at Aulani.com or by calling (808) 674-6330.
