Walt Disney World Resort has been testing a ‘Direct to Room‘ check-in service over the last several months at various resorts. Direct to Room check-in allows you to bypass the front desk and head STRAIGHT to your room. While the service is still optional, beginning February 10, 2015, guests will have the ability to check-in online and receive a text or email message telling you what your room number will be upon your arrival. Your Magic Band will have the information loaded before hand, so you simply head to the room when you arrive at the resort!
The following resorts will have Direct to Room check-in service available beginning February 10th: Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, Disney’s Pop Century Resort, Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside Resort, and Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter Resort.
The following resorts will have Direct to Room check-in service available beginning February 25th: Disney’s BoardWalk Inn, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, and Disney’s Beach Club Resort.
The following resorts will have Direct to Room check-in service available beginning March 10th: Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort, Disney’s All-Star Music Resort, Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort, Disney’s Old Key West Resort, and Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa.
As a seasoned Walt Disney World traveler, this new technology is helping make the most of my time while on vacation! Imagine jumping off the Magical Express and simply running to your room to drop off any carry-on luggage and then popping on the first bus to Disney’s Magic Kingdom? I’m excited just thinking about the possibilities.
If you are not comfortable with this new service, you will always have the ability to do on-site check-in. The Cast Members are great about helping first time guests feel welcomed.
DIStracted Tip- This service requires use of the My Disney Experience account and linking your resort reservation to the account.
Carol P. says
Will I need to visit the front desk for my daughter’s birthday pin or will that come in the mail with the magic bands if I choose this service?
Justin Connors says
Hi Carol! You will need to visit the front desk at your resort, or you can pick one up at guest relations in any of the Parks.
justine says
Does this include dvc?
Christen Francis says
Yes. Saratoga Springs & Old Key West are dedicated DVC Resorts, and they will go live on March 10!
emma says
Any idea how this will work for international guests?
Christen Francis says
As of now, our understanding is that International guests do not receive Magic Bands until they arrive at their Walt Disney World Resort. This option does not appear to be available to international guests at this time, but I wouldn’t rule out the eventual roll out for international guests.
Babe says
Where will we pick up our parking pass, in the room or front desk?
Christen Francis says
That is an excellent question! I assume that you would need to at least get a parking pass from the front desk. I will look into that and update the article when we get the information!
