It is no secret that Disney is going through changes and that includes the parks.
Last time, I reported that there was gossip going around that Tower of Terror was getting a major overhaul to become the Collector’s Tower from Guardians of the Galaxy. Well, that turned out to be true, at least for Disney’s California Adventure! Many have been wondering when the ball was going to drop for Walt Disney World… Well, it seems that it may be sooner than later.
Disney Rumor – Epcot
It is being rumored that Guardians of the Galaxy will be invading Epcot by introducing the first roller coaster to Future World. So, what will be closing to make way for this historic ride? Ellen’s Energy Adventure seems to be the one on the chopping block which is the only attraction in the Universe of Energy pavilion. The Universe of Energy is one of the original pavilions, but Ellen’s Energy Adventure has been there since 1996. It appears from all accounts that Universe of Energy will be completely demolished to make room for this new Guardians of the Galaxy roller coaster.
Gossip has emotions running high as an Inside Out themed attraction just might be giving our favorite purple dragon, Figment, the boot. At least, from Epcot. This new rumor reported by Chip & Co. has the dynamic duo from Journey to Imagination making their way to Tomorrowland in Magic Kingdom.
When we were there earlier this year, there was never more than a 5 minute wait for Journey to Imagination. Even though, Figment is a beloved character the ride is outdated and needs some tender loving care. Now, Journey to Imagination has been on the rumored chopping block for years now and while I may not believe this exact rumor, I’m not sure that Figment will be safe for much longer.
Disney Rumor – Magic Kingdom
Lastly, it appears that everyone’s favorite (I joke, I joke) attraction in Magic Kingdom might finally be getting a major overhaul. Stitch’s Great Escape is one, if not the, most hated attraction in Walt Disney World, so it is no big surprise that Disney might finally be looking at replacing it. The latest rumor has it being taken over by a virtual reality (VR) simulation Wreck-It Ralph themed attraction. Guests would be transported into Sugar Rush to race against other Guests while seated in the simulators and wearing virtual reality headsets. Using VR headsets in a park like Magic Kingdom would cause extremely long wait times and that doesn’t seem like the best idea. I wouldn’t mind a Wreck-It Ralph simulator ride, similar to Star Tours or even, The Simpson’s Ride in Universal Studios.
We’d love to hear how you feel about these rumors. Is there a ride you’d rather see get chopped? Let us know!
