We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things, because we’re curious… and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths. ~ Walt Disney
The Orlando Sentinel has announced that Tuesday, September 29, 2015 is the day that Downtown Disney will officially become Disney Springs!
Disney has wisely put this major change in slowly since the original announcement of the expansion project was made on March 12, 2013. Guests and locals began buzzing about the name change being official after the recent I-40 signs revealed Disney Springs, rather than Downtown Disney.
While the project is not quite done, Disney Springs has been rapidly updating and changing the look over the last several months. The designs remind Guests of a waterfront town along the coast of Florida at the turn-of-the-century. The sophisticated atmosphere will house four different “neighborhoods” within Disney Springs. The Landing, Town Center, Marketplace and West Side will be fully complete in 2016 and will have double the amount of retail, dining and entertainment space!
There will be a ceremony to mark this name change held at Waterview Park, which is adjacent to the new Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar in Disney Springs. The ceremony starts at 5pm on September 29, 2015.
