Last night the Chairman of Disney Parks, Tom Staggs, and Steve Davison, Disney Imagineering Creative Entertainment, Vice President for Parades and Spectaculars, took the stage to announce just few of the exciting changes coming to the Disneyland Resort to celebrate Disneyland’s Diamond 60th Anniversary.
“As time has shown, Disneyland marked the beginning of something bigger than anyone could have imagined and this Diamond Celebration embraces its rich history while honoring Walt Disney’s commitment to pushing boundaries to create exciting and innovative new experiences for our guests,” said Staggs.
The first bit of news they released is that Disney’s California Adventure Park will feature a special edition of the breathtaking “World of Color” show. Starting May 22, 2015, “World of Color – Celebrate! The Wonderful World of Walt Disney” will light up the night sky in an emotional celebration of Walt Disney and his dream of Disneyland. Our favorite mouse will take guests on a magical adventure of memorable moments following Walt Disney as he pursues his ultimate dream. The “World of Color” sets an amazing stage with fountains, lasers, animates features, live-action video, and inspirational music. This special edition of “World of Color” will show “All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them” ~ Walt Disney
The next big announcement, also starting May 22, 2015, will include painting the night sky in brilliant lights and astounding colors. Tom Staggs and Steve Davison let us all know that Disneyland Resort will be featuring a new light parade “Paint the Night”. This new parade will have gorgeous floats, breathtaking costumes, brilliant lights, moving music, and amazing special effects. Main Street will be filled 1.5 million LED lights, and Mickey uses the power of imagination to use the magic of Tinkerbell’s pixie dust to bring to life some of Disney’s most beloved characters including those from “Monsters Inc,” “The Little Mermaid,” “Cars,” and “Toy Story,” “Frozen,” and “Beauty and the Beast.”
The final unveiling of the evening revealed that during Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration, Disneyland Park will fully immerse its guests in an amazing fireworks display beginning on May 22, 2015. We all know Disneyland Park is full of magic, but “Disneyland Forever” brings every bit of Disney magic to life. This stunning spectacular will have fantastic pyrotechnics, incredible projections, and other magical special effects. “Disneyland Forever” will take everyone on a journey from dancing with King Louie from “Disney’s The Jungle Book” to flying the night sky over London with “Peter Pan.” This marvelous fireworks show will also introduce us to two (2) new original songs “Live the Magic” and the closing song “Kiss Goodnight” which is sure to bring the tears. Both of these new songs are by Richard Sherman. Each evening as guests are leaving the park, “Disneyland Forever” will leave each guest with a little magic in their hearts.
As Disneyland gears up to celebrate its 60th anniversary, Disneyland Park’s Sleeping Beauty Castle and Disney California Adventure Park’s Carthay Circle Theatre will be transformed to commemorate the Diamond celebration as each will feature a diamond medallion featuring the letter “D.” The entire Disneyland Resort will be decorated to feature the Disneyland Diamond Celebration, and will include twinkling décor and Disneyland blue banners. There will also be special limited edition merchandise and delish food items to help everyone celebrate this special event.
Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration will take guest on a journey of a lifetime, and bring to life the magic that is Walt Disney.
