Greetings young detectives. Do you like to put on your thinking caps on and solve some clues? Well then, the Disney Family Magic Tour is just for you!
WARNING: Spoilers are included!
We love our family vacations to Walt Disney World Resort and each visit we like to try something new and special. This trip we chose the Disney Family Magic Tour. Billed as a “high-energy interactive quest,” the morning is spent as a scavenger hunt of sorts.
Background Story
The premise behind the story is that Donald Duck had a bunch of items for Mickey Mouse. However, they were taken and scattered throughout the park. It was our job to solve the riddles, find all the loot, and return it to Mickey.
We checked in at 9:45 am, at the Chamber of Commerce building on Main Street, U.S.A., and were given Peter Pan stickers to wear and a bottle of water (it was a scorcher– 94 degrees). Next we met our lead detective, Mindy, who told us about the missing loot. Then it was off to find clues and solve puzzles.
We spent the morning traipsing though Main Street, U.S.A., Adventureland, Liberty Square, Fantasyland, through Tomorrowland and back to Main Street, U.S.A. The clues were clever and involved characters such as Remy, Rapunzel, Lightning McQueen, Tiana, Stitch and more.
Surprises
Throughout the tour we encountered a few surprises. We were brought through the FastPass line to ride The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. Then we got to meet our favorite boy who will never grow up–Peter Pan! My boys ADORE Peter Pan and this was especially a highlight for them.
As we made our way through Tomorrowland, Mindy kept the group engaged and entertained. She had chips and each guest got to choose one. The whole group then had to walk through the park based on the chip (aliens, monkeys, lions). I can only imagine what other guests thought…but I found it hysterical and fun.
Our final clue was located in Main Street Confectionery. It was there that the final surprise was revealed–we were going to meet Mickey Mouse!!!!
Age Groups
The tour is geared towards children ages 4-10 but I think the sweet spot is ages 7-10. The older ones had an easier time spotting the clues and they were able to read them. However, both of my boys had a great time. I would highly recommend this tour when the crowds are low and the temperatures are moderate.
DIStracted TIPS:
- Wear sunscreen as you are out in the sun a lot.
- Wear comfortable shoes; the tour is every bit of two hours.
- Bring extra water and/or snacks for your little ones.
