My last visit to Walt Disney World Resort was on my 35th birthday this past March. My husband and I went on an adults-only trip. I woke up the first full morning there, which was my actual birthday, and I was very sick with a sinus infection. The kind that makes you feel so badly you want to stay in bed all day long. I guess it was karma for coming to Walt Disney World sans children. I didn’t even think of packing cold medicine so I went to the resort gift shop (we were staying at The Boardwalk Inn) and paid nearly $10.00 for some off-brand head and sinus medicine. They worked ok, however, after lunch I was getting weaker and it was time for me to get back to the room and take another dose. I was so bummed that I was missing out on my big day in the Magic Kingdom! I stopped by the restroom next to the Crystal Palace and noticed the First Aid sign. I had used the Baby Care station here years ago when my children were little but never really paid attention to the First Aid station.
I went inside and it was like heaven! There was a nurse behind the counter with the happiest smile on her face (this is still Disney after all!) I wrote down my name, my resort, and my room number. I told her what was going on with me and she gave me cold medicine, pain relief medicine (Tylenol or Advil, I cannot remember now), as well as some tissues. She also gave me cough drops. All for FREE! The $10.00 I spent at the gift shop seemed so silly. I am not even sure if the cast member smiled at me when he sold it to me. This nurse smiled and told me she hoped I felt better. It was like spending a few brief moments with Mary Poppins. I took my spoonful of sugar and the medicine went down and I went back to my room for a nap. By evening I was good to go for dinner. Each day we were there I started to improved. (Oh yeah, she gave me enough medicine for the duration of our trip!) I am 100% sold on the First Aid Stations. Never, ever again will I go anywhere else for anything! I highly recommend you remember this on your next vacation! The nurse I had was a lifesaver!

They are fantastic! I had to use First Aid this past summer while at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The nurse was amazing! She took care of us and we were on our way!

I will never pay for OTC medicine from the resort gift shops again, that is for certain!
