Getting to experience the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival has been at the top of my Disney bucket list for a LONG time, and I can’t wait to share with you the things that I got to taste and see while traveling around the World Showcase!
I had done some research and thought I knew what I wanted to try. However, crowds and the heat sometimes made me skip kiosks. But in the end, I’m very happy with the items that I tried and look forward to going back in the future.
Do you enjoy watching The Chew? I know I do! I was VERY excited to try items at The Chew Lab! I knew I wanted to try the steak, and it did NOT disappoint. I was surprised that I enjoyed the Arugula Foam as much as I did! By itself, it wasn’t very tasty, but when you dipped the pieces of steak in the foam, it added a great flavor. Looking at the other options in the booth made me wish I was trying more items!
I was so looking forward to the Buttered Chicken with Naan bread from the Africa kiosk, and I have to say – I was somewhat disappointed. It was very saucy and had a curry flavor. It was okay, but I wouldn’t have wanted a whole meal with this chicken.
In Brazil, I was very excited to try the Carnaval Moscato Sparkling White Wine! Moscato is my personal favorite wine (I like it sweet!) and so this sparkling version was very important for me to try! It was delicious and I could have had several glasses of this! I was pleased with the sample size that I was given. We also tasted the Pão de queijo and it was AMAZING! The melty cheese inside the warm bread was heavenly. If carbs had been no object – I would have gladly eaten my weight in these tiny morsels!
At the China booth, I was VERY excited to try the Chicken Pot Stickers. I unfortunately cannot eat pork. Yes – that means, no bacon, no pork chops and typically – no pot stickers! When I saw that the China kiosk would have pot stickers with chicken, I just KNEW I had to stop by. These were very good. I didn’t really love the sauce that was served with them, it wasn’t bad – but the pot stickers were delicious without the sauce.
What can I say but WOW about my next dish. The Lobster & Seafood Fisherman’s Pie at the Ireland kiosk was out of this world! It was a creamy take on a shepherd’s pie and I would have gladly made a meal out of this pie. There were large chunks of lobster, which is always a good thing in my book!
I think one of my favorite Walt Disney World treats is the Dole Whip! So, getting the chance to have an adult version with Coconut Rum? Yes, please! I don’t really even like coconut, but I really enjoyed the way the pineapple and coconut blended together for this frosty treat. And as warm as it was during our trip, it was nice to have this to help cool me down.
Greece was one my favorite spots! I was excited to try the Chicken Gyro with tzatziki sauce and my friend Shelley got the Vegan moussaka with Gardein™ sausage crumbles & Spanakopita. She enjoyed the moussaka and was happy to have the vegan option! She graciously shared her Spanakopita and I thought it was great. It made me wish I had gotten a serving of that in addition to my Chicken Gyro! The Chicken Gyro was great. You can’t go wrong with Gyro in my opinion!
Oh Canada! How I LOVED the Chicken Sausage with polenta! I’m a sucker for polenta – I think it reminds me of grits and I have always loved grits since I grew up in the south. This sausage was good – but the polenta was the real winner here. I wish I could have asked for a double portion of the polenta – so creamy and the perfect cheese flavor!
DIStracted Tip: As you can tell, to help hold our food we used a child’s divided plate purchased from the Dollar Spot at Target. This was cheaper than buying the trays sold at the event. We left the food in the serving dishes provided, so it didn’t ever get dirty. This is a MUST when it’s busy and there are few places to set your food.
I hope that I am able to attend the Food & Wine Festival again in the future! Have you attended this year? What were your favorite items? Please share in the comments below or on Social Media – use the #DIStracted so I can find your posts!
