Finally! The article you have all been anxiously waiting for since I began this series. How to use FastPass+ at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park! In case you missed my previous articles- I have shared tips for Disney’s Magic Kingdom, Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios Park.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park often gets overlooked- which is sad! I know, I know, I don’t have much room to talk, since it’s still have a “half-day” park for my family. But I promise you- we ALWAYS make the most of our time in the parks.
There are several Kiosk locations if you need any help with your FastPass+ selections or you are ready for your 4th FastPass.
We are still a little while away from Pandora- The World of Avatar opening, but there are still some great attractions at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. There is no tier system (yay!) at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, so you are free to make the selections that you want.
High Demand
There are 3 attractions that I consider High Demand: DINOSAUR, Expedition Everest and Kilimanjaro Safaris. For me, personally- these are always my first 3 FastPass+ selections. However, since I have small children and my husband doesn’t enjoy DINOSAUR, I often have to make different selections for the rest of my family members.
We enjoy riding the Kilimanjaro Safaris as EARLY in the day as possible. We typically make reservations at Tusker House for breakfast, ensuring that we are in the park pre-opening. In the days of the “legacy FastPass”, my husband would run out to grab FP’s while we were finishing up our meal, but thanks to the technology of FastPass+ we set this as one of our first selections of the day. The great thing about this being our “early” FP selection, if we get to the entrance and the StandBy queue is still relatively short, we simply hop on the My Disney Experience App and change attractions.
DINOSAUR is a great ride that has you chasing- or being chased- by history! My daughters aren’t quite ready for this ride and my husband is happy to never ride again. During this time, I can set a meet up for my kids to see some Disney Pals at Adventure Outpost with my husband for their FastPass+ time.
If you like thrills, then make sure you set your FP for Expedition Everest! The line for this attraction can eat up several hours in the StandBy queue. Of course, the queue for this ride is beautiful and decorated with all the gear you would need as well as some great things to learn about Everest.
Other FastPass+ Options:
- Festival of the Lion King: This broadway style show is set in a in-the-round type auditorium. The actors are singing, jumping and dancing through the story of The Lion King- It should not be missed!
- Finding Nemo- The Musical: Go deep into the Big Blue World and watch the amazing puppetry in motion as you help find Nemo!
- It’s Tough to Be a Bug!- This show is a lot of fun for those that love A Bug’s Life!
- Kali River Rapids– Take a ride down the Kali River and come back refreshed!
- Primeval Whirl– Spinning round and round as you try and avoid a meteor headed for Earth!
If you plan out your Fastpass+ selections properly, you can get all the great rides in plus some of the other rides that don’t have FP options in a short amount of time. This works out great so that you can spend the evening in Disney Springs or at your home Resort swimming. Whatever you do- make sure that your FastPass+ selections help your family make the MOST out of your Walt Disney World vacation!
