Disney has announced that there will be a live-action version of Pinocchio. The story of the wooden puppet who becomes a real boy is being adapted by Peter Hedges and will be loosely based on the original story. The original Pinocchio story, The Adventures of Pinocchio, was written by Carlo Collodi in 1883.

The Pinocchio live-action film is the latest in a trend of turning animated films into live-action films. Others that are reportedly in production are Winnie the Pooh, Beauty and the Beast, The Jungle Book, Dumbo, and Mulan.
