Oh the changes! Everyone who had been following the development of “Star Wars Land” and “Toy Story Land” knew closures were coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, but I don’t think anyone was really prepared!
DIStracted author Lisa Sealy reported on January 15, 2016 that the Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show would be closing in her article “BREAKING! April 2 is Lights Out for Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show”.
Shortly after that came news of many other classic attraction closings on April 2, 2016! These include Honey, I Shrunk the Kids Movie Set Adventure, Monsters Inc. Meet and Greet, Studios Catering Company and the Streets of America. It is also being reported that the iconic Earful Tower will be coming down. The Earful Tower has been at Disney’s Hollywood Studios since the beginning, but Disney needs the space for “Toy Story Land.”
Of course the reduction in acreage and attractions is temporary, and make way for an expansion. While I know many are upset with all the closures, and it’s sad to see some of our favorites leave, let us keep this in mind:
“Around here we don’t look backwards for very long … We keep moving forward, opening new doors and doing new things because we’re curious … and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.” ~ Walt Disney
