And, just like that, I’m out of puns … so, on to my review!
Visiting Walt Disney World Resort regularly allows our family to try new things, wander off the beaten path, and explore activities outside of our usual “lanes.”
During our most recent visit my husband wanted to try Splitsville Luxury Lanes, an upscale bowling alley located at Downtown Disney’s West Side (soon to be Disney Springs.) As Disney Vacation Club Members (DVC), we were able to take advantage of “Member Night,” held most Wednesday nights from 6 to 8pm.
As part of the prepaid package, for $47 per adult and $38 per child (plus tax), we were able to enjoy: *
- Member exclusive check-in (bypass general entrance queue!)
- 1 hour and 45 minutes of bowling time
- Shoe rental
- Shared appetizer (per 2 people)
- Select entrée (or kid’s meal)
- Signature beverage
- Special gift! (socks)
* Event description is from the Disney Vacation Club member website.
With contemporary but family-friendly tunes rocking in the background, our family had so much fun. Our four-year old did a little dance every time he knocked down a single pin. In fact, I was surprised he was able to enjoy bowling as much as he did. They had bowling-aids that looked like a walker crossed with a ramp that allowed him to set the ball at the top and just push it down the ramp. He had a blast.
There is a server/assistant assigned to each table to take and serve your food and drink order (no waiting at a concession stand for old hard popcorn!). The food was surprisingly good, with some of the best chicken tenders I’ve ever enjoyed (real whole breast meat with a light, but crunchy, Parmesan crust … seriously). The portions were large and selection was impressive! Salads, burgers, salmon … even sushi, all offered (considering Walt Disney World Resort pricing) at a not unreasonable cost.
With the DVC package we felt this was well worth the price, and a lot of fun. However, without a package or special pricing, it can be a pretty expensive evening. Let me break it down:
- Evening Bowling (per hour for 1-3 people) is $20 per person = $120 (DVC offered 15 minutes short of 2 hours bowling time)
- Shoe rental is $4 per person = $12
- 3 drinks (if 2 are alcoholic) about = $20
- 2 appetizers (specifically the 2 we chose) = $23
- 3 entrées (specifically the 3 we chose) = $41
- 3 pair of socks = unknown retail
Grand Total (before taxes & tip) = $216 (sans socks)
But, with the Disney Vacation Club Membership Magic package coming in at $133 before taxes and gratuity, we’d definitely return to Splitsville to knock down some more pins! We had such a great time, all the excitement knocked our little King Pin right out!
Please note, DVC Membership Magic packages are only available to Disney Vacation Club members and space is limited. Advance reservations are required (at least 24 hours prior) and can only be made via Member Services.
Splitsville Luxury Lanes offers additional discounts for “Early Bird” bowlers, Cast Members, and other special events during certain times/days. For publicly available specials and events, please visit http://www.splitsvillelanes.com/location/orlando/#location. If you can take advantage of one of their special offers I think you’ll have a “turkey” of a time … ok, I’ll admit, that one was a bit of a stretch.
