2016 is already shaping up to be a great year for Disney and the movies! We saw great movies in 2015, like Cinderella, Tomorrowland, and Star Wars: The Force Awakens – which is STILL smashing ticket sales at the box office after being released at the end of 2015.
“So what’s to come?” I hear you scream! Here is a rundown of a few of the Disney movies scheduled to be released this year.
The Finest Hours: Release Date January 29, 2016
Disney acquired the rights to this 2009 book written by Casey Sherman and Michael Tougias. The cast includes Chris Pine, Eric Bana and Casey Affleck.

The cast includes Scarlet Johansson, Christopher Walken, Idris Elba and Bill Murray to name a few.
Captain America: Release Date May 6, 2016
Marvel Fans, don’t despair. Captain American is already tipped to be a box office hit after the trailers broke Marvel’s record for most views in 24 hours! The movie will see Captain America lead the team of Avengers (which has somewhat disbanded as of the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron). Will the Avengers manage to come together to fight evil or will their desire for something more keep the group fractured? Scarlett Johansson and Chris Pine once again reprise their roles as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow and Steve Rogers/Captain America.
Alice Through the Looking Glass: Release Date May 27, 2016
Alice returns back to Wonderland and travels back in time to save the Mad Hatter once again. The movie will bring back all the old faces from the first movie, Alice in Wonderland, and Mia Wasikowska will reprise her role as Alice.

This is the eagerly anticipated follow-up to Finding Nemo. Some of the original cast are back along with some new friends. The story centers around the ever-forgetful Dory reuniting with her family. Pete’s Dragon: Expected Release Date August 16, 2016
