Guests were surprised when they were asked to scan their paper FastPasses at Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy at Disneyland Park on Monday, October 19, 2015.
Cast Members were standing at the FastPass entrance instructing Guests to scan their paper FastPasses at the two makeshift readers on either side. The little reader would light up with a green swirling light that looks very familiar to the FastPass+ scanners at Walt Disney World Resort.
Disneyland Resort still uses the traditional paper FastPasses that have printed return times and they hand them to Cast Members as they advance in the FastPass return line.
“Disneyland spokeswoman Betsy Sanchez said the bar-code readers are being tested for the next few days to measure their efficiency, only at Space Mountain. She said they routinely test things at the park.” ~ OC Register
We first reported on MyMagic+ finding a home at Disneyland Resort in January when Tom Staggs told the Orlando Sentinel that the MyMagic+ system would be coming to Disneyland Resort in the near future.
DIStracted Tip: Check out Bring on the Magic! My Magic+ is coming to Disneyland Resort! for more information.
I expect Disneyland Resort Guests will be seeing a lot more of these impromptu tests as time goes on!
