Will you be heading to Walt Disney World with a large group? Try out these fantastic Walt Disney World restaurants that are perfect for large group dining!
This past summer I had the privilege of traveling to Walt Disney World with a large group from our local university. Touring the parks can be a challenge with a large group. Disney’s FastPass+ system has taken a lot of the guesswork out of getting everyone to attractions at the same time. You can also enjoy delicious cuisine with your group! Here are my restaurant suggestions for great large group dining experiences at Walt Disney World.
First, let’s stop in at the Liberty Tree Tavern in Magic Kingdom.
You will find Liberty Tree Tavern (LTT) nestled in Liberty Square, across from the Hall of Presidents. This is a great place to slip away from the hustle and bustle of Walt Disney World’s busiest park. LTT serves a traditional Thanksgiving feast that includes Turkey & Stuffing, Ham, Roast Beef, and all the trimmings you would expect to find at your grandma’s house during the holidays.
Gather around the table, because meals are served family style, and all you care to eat. The big colonial style tables at LTT are ideal for large groups, and the servers are very knowledgeable and accommodating.
Next we will feast at Beirgarten in Epcot.
Make your way to the Germany pavilion of World Showcase to find Biergarten. As you can see from the photos, Biergarten is set up for large groups. Even small dining parties are paired together at tables for 8-10 people. Biergarten serves a buffet of authentic German cuisine such as sausages, krauts, coldcuts of all sorts, and German pastries. If you are a pickier eater, find the section of the buffet serving more American fare like chicken tenders and mac and cheese.
You MUST stick around to see one of the daily performances by Oktoberfest- the lively Polka house band. This will be the highlight of your dinner experience at Biergarten. They provide wonderful entertainment for guests of all ages!
Now, mosey on over to Whispering Canyon Cafe at the Wilderness Lodge.
Take a break from the parks for some finger- licking good BBQ at the Whispering Canyon. You can dig into great big plates of Ribs, Chicken, Pulled Pork, and all the hearty sides you wish to eat. This feast is served family style.
The little ones in your group will enjoy fun and frivolity with activities provided by the friendly cast members. And don’t forget to ask for some ketchup, you may just get a great little surprise.
DIStracted Tip: On demand seating is nearly impossible at Disney restaurants, so be sure to snag those Advanced Dining Reservations for your group using your Fastpass+!
Next let’s tickle our taste buds at Teppan Edo in Epcot.
Teppan Edo is found in the Japan pavilion in World Showcase. This traditional Japanese steakhouse is a always a crowd pleaser. With grill tables set for 8-10 people, it is perfect for your large group. As with any Japanese steakhouses, there will be plenty of theatrics while dinner is prepared. But, hey, you are at Walt Disney World, so it HAS to be better than your typical dining experience!
Next we will get off the beaten path a bit, and head over to Trail’s End Restaurant at the Wilderness Campground.
Your large group can enjoy a leisurely boat ride from the Magic Kingdom to reach the Wilderness Campground. Dinner at Trail’s End will slow your pace a bit, and fill your bellies with “viddles” from a scrumptious buffet of home-style food.
For an added bit of laid back fun for your group, stick around the campground after dinner to enjoy Chip ‘N Dale’s Campfire Sing-A-Long.
Finally, we make it to my favorite dinner destination! Enjoy time with the FAMILY at ‘Ohana!
Take the monorail from Magic Kingdom or the Ticket and Transporation Center to the Polynesian Village Resort for dinner at ‘Ohana. Fire grilled meats are served on large skewers; and your appetizers, sides, and desserts are served family style. YUM!
At ‘Ohana there is plenty of entertainment, too. Take in many island traditions through storytelling and games for all ages. If you are lucky enough to snag a late evening reservation, it is also a perfect spot to view Wishes Nighttime Spectacular from Magic Kingdom. For this treat, the restaurant lights will be dimmed, and the Wishes audio is played over the restaurant sound system. This will be a memory you won’t soon forget!
As you can clearly see, there are fantastic restaurants to experience at Walt Disney World with your large group. What are your favorites?
