As a mom taking kids to Walt Disney World, I find myself packing various things in our bags for a day in the Parks. Heading to Magic Kingdom? Better have a poncho (for Splash Mountain!), a princess dress (will it be Cinderella or Rapunzel?), our camera, phone & charger (gotta keep up with my Fastpass+ times!) and a water bottle. SHEW! Add a stroller, Mickey Ears, and jackets (if the weather is chilly) and your hands are FULL. One thing I don’t have to bring? My credit card! Why? Because I’m wearing my MagicBand!

Disney’s MagicBands
When you are staying at a Walt Disney World Resort, you have the ability to link your credit card to your MagicBand. By doing so, you are able to charge purchases throughout the Resort to your room by using the touch points when checking out.

Simply touch the Mickey Mouse on your MagicBand to the Mickey Mouse head on the touch pad to check out.
DIStracted Tip: Those that use the Disney Dining Plan will also use the touch points, as that is how Disney is able to keep track of your Dining Credits.
And don’t worry – your credit card information is safe! Guests with credit cards linked to their MagicBands select a PIN code that must be used in order to charge to the card. There is NO way to bypass this safety feature. If you are traveling with your children, their MagicBands will not be linked to the credit card (unless you request it).
DIStracted Tip: If you are traveling with another adult, each person can have his or her own credit card linked to their MagicBand.
We all know that if you lose your credit card on vacation, you can call your provider and they will instantly deactivate your card. Traveling with cash and lose it? You would be completely out of luck. But when you link your credit card to your MagicBand you are saved from these headaches. If you lose your MagicBand, you can simply deactivate that band on the My Disney Experience app immediately and then head to Guest Relations or your Resort front desk to receive a new MagicBand and STILL have access to your credit card.
But maybe you are one of those that like to pay with cash and don’t want to carry that balance on your credit card. You can still link your MagicBand, but the night before you check out, you simply go to the front desk to pay for your purchases in full.
