The very first Mickey Mouse watch was sold by Ingersoll-Waterbury on June 1, 1933. Over 11, 000 watches were sold that first day at Macy’s New York department store. Ingersoll-Waterbury, the Connecticut clock company, was on the verge of bankruptcy before releasing the Mickey Mouse watches and clocks which ultimately saved their company.
