When I first met my boyfriend Paul, I had to make sure of one thing … that he liked Disney!
Some people may have thought this strange but, along with the usual good sense of humor and getting on with my family and friends, this was non-negotiable for me. Disney is such a big part of my life and I do tend to vacation there a lot, so I had to make sure this guy would be able to stand my Disney obsession or at least tolerate it.
This is an important consideration for many Disney fans when looking for prospective partners. Questions like: Does he/she like Disney? Do they know the difference between Disneyland Park and Magic Kingdom? Would they enjoy a vacation to the most magical place on earth? Could I cope with a “non-Disney fan?” I know some are laughing and thinking I don’t mind if a potential spouse doesn’t like Disney, but secretly you know that you want someone to share the love of all things magical.
If you’re single and ready to mingle, fear not! A new dating website has been set up for Disney fans like you and me, called Mousemingle.com. The website was created by Dave Tavres who saw a niche in the market for people like us. There are many other niche dating websites out there like people who like guys/girls in uniform, or those looking for a specific religious preference, etc.
Users are asked a variety of Disney-inspired questions to help find their perfect ‘Disney nerd level’ match. The website can be used by everyone willing to pay the monthly membership fee of $12.55. Did you notice the 55 cents? 1955 is the year Disneyland opened! Disney-loving Tavres does have a tie to Disney; he used to work on the Disneyland Railroad in Anaheim.
Once users have set up their profiles (which will no doubt feature an array of photos of them at Disney and with Disney characters), they will be able to view profiles of other members and have the ability to chat with like-minded people.
For those not looking for love but wanting to share their Disney park day with other Disney fans, you can also join in on the fun! Simply visit “Park Pal” on their site.
Mousemingle.com has only been up and running for a few days and has proven to be hugely popular. Some are reporting that they are having problems subscribing, but fear not – with a little patience the creators will be able to fix this minor glitch and you will be able to mingle at will.
