Moana, the Polynesian Princess, is the new girl in the Disney empire. The Polynesian Princess has graced our screens in time for the festive season.
Having watched Disney’s newest offering, I was in awe of what Disney had created. Such a sweet yet beautiful movie with a nod to the Polynesian people and their traditions. I won’t give away all of the details but will give you a short review instead.
Everyone who watches this movie will be able to relate to the characters from Moana to her parents and how protective they were, to the close relationship and guidance her grandmother gave her.
The music in the film was stunning and catchy, you can’t help but hum along. Even if you don’t know the words! Disney always has a way of making their music so uplifting and joyous. It makes you smile.
The Storyline
The movie centers on Moana (Auli I’ Cravalho) and how she will be the new chief of her tribe but her heart is being called by the ocean. Her parents Chief Tiu (Temuera Morrison) and Sina (Nicole Scherzinger) but especially her father are extremely protective and believe in not going further than the reef.
When a curse that was apparently set by Maui (Dwayne Johnson) reaches her tribe’s island, Moana decides to take her grandmother’s advice. She goes to set things right with Maui the demigod and bring back voyaging to her tribe.
The storyline for this film was thought out beautifully and the ending is perfect and not what you expect. This film is perfect for kids and adults alike.
