In honor of the most important women in our lives, our mothers, the Disney Vacation Club (DVC) hosted a special mother’s day brunch inspired by the Disney·Pixar film The Incredibles — and by Mrs. Incredible herself. The event, which was limited to DVC members only, was held at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida at Disney’s Contemporary Resort in the Fantasia Ballroom. The room was set up with different sized tables, specific to the number of Guests in each party. The brunch, which took place from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm, featured a number of family-friendly activities including:
- Appearances by Mr. and Mrs. Incredible, as well as Frozone, from The Incredibles
- A Mother’s Day card-making station which supplied kids with all the special tools and accessories to create a one-of-a-kind keepsake card for Mom
- Incredible Mom Song on the Spot — a strolling musician who chatted with families during brunch, improvising songs, honoring the Moms in the room
Of course, the day wasn’t just about the crafts, but the food as well. The all-you-can-eat brunch buffet featured Trust in Edna’s Triple Sweet Corn Salad, Incredibly Slow-roasted Rosemary brined Pork Loin, Jack Jack’s Rockin’ Rock-Shrimp – Cheesy Grits and Syndrome’s Sweet Potato Pancakes, Bourbon Honey Butter & Warm Syrup, an omelet station and a variety of other delicious items. There were multiple buffet stations set up throughout the ballroom, so a second or third plate was never far away. There was also a coffee and dessert station to finish off your meal with something sweet, like the assortment of mini cheesecakes and macaroons. Additionally, as a special treat for the moms (and dads) at brunch, there were complimentary champagne cocktails passed throughout the afternoon. Not to be left out, there was also a child-sized brunch area that featured Mickey Macaroni, Cheddar & Bountiful Broccoli, Mickey Waffles, and Incredible Crisped Rice Bon Bons.
All the food was delicious and the kids had plenty of time to make cards and other crafts, but the real highlight of the brunch was the entertainment, which was provided by DVC staff. The MC of the event was interviewing different families throughout the event, and the kids in particular. My daughter was eager to share with the MC about why she loved her mom and why her mom is silly, so that was really memorable!
After filling our bellies to the brim and getting our laughs in at the kids’ antics, we were ready to head back home. However, DVC had one last gift for the mommies. As a special parting gift, moms were invited to take the gorgeous flower centerpieces from the tables. Of course, on our way out, we also picked up our commemorative family photo with Mr. and Mrs. Incredible, another great memento of the day. All and all, my children, husband and I had a great brunch and I enjoyed a wonderful mother’s day, thanks to Disney Vacation Club.
