Am I the only one that checks daily for reservations to open up for the Jungle Navigation Co. LTD, Skipper Canteen? When I say daily, I really mean multiple times a day type of daily!
This has to be one of the most anticipated restaurants and Disney has been quite mum on the details! So of course the rumors are swirling left and right and everyone is clamoring for more and more possible information. Well, here are some juicy “details” that may or may not be true as Disney has not confirmed any of them as of now!
The new Skipper Canteen, located in Adventureland in Magic Kingdom park, will be open for lost adventurers for lunch and dinner which many of us had already figured out. According to WDWMagic, it will be table service for both meal times. I had a feeling about this one as I just don’t see the expected Jungle Cruise Skipper humor coming across very well at a quick service!
How do Steak and Yuca Fries, Falafel with Cucumber Salad sound? What about Pineapple Coconut Cake for dessert? These are just a few samples of what Guests will find on the menu! It looks like entrees with run about $15 and desserts will be $8. Personally, I think these are pretty inexpensive when thinking about the average Walt Disney World table service.
Approximately 220 Guests will be able to dine at one time in the multiple rooms of the Jungle Navigation Co. LTD, Skipper Canteen.
“The main dining room is the Mess Hall, with other smaller dining rooms leading from that central area, including one dining room hidden behind a bookcase which once served as a secret meeting room of the famed Society of Explorers and Adventurers. There is also a Schweitzer family dining room, separate from the Mess Hall.” (WDWMagic)
Now the important stuff! There will be two (2) signature drinks, Punchline Punch and Schweitzer Slushie, that will have signature cups available for purchase!
Disney hasn’t confirmed the opening date, but it is being rumored that Skipper Canteen will open December 16, 2015. It is also being said that Disney will start off by offering walk-ups in late December 2015 before opening up reservations.
