Last week we reported on the new runDisney Costume & Safety Guidelines that went into effect on January 6, 2016.
You can learn about all the new rules in the article “New runDisney Costume & Safety Guidelines Go into Effect Today!” by my fellow DIStracted author, Lisa M.
At the most recent runDisney event, the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend at Walt Disney World Resort which took place January 7-10, 2016, we had a chance to see how the new rules affected runners’ costumes. Prior to the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend, emails were sent to all runners about the new rules. Additionally, at both the runDisney Health & Fitness Expo and at the race itself, there were additional signs and notices with the new rules clearly posted. However, there didn’t seem to be any extra “costume checkers,” although everyone seemed to be in compliance.
As you can see from the photos, runners at the Walt Disney World Half Marathon didn’t skip a beat! They had costumes that were in line with runDisney’s new costume policy but still had plenty of Disney character and originality.
A big Thank You to those who agreed to share their costumes and smiles before 5 a.m. on race morning!
