I love that things at Walt Disney World are changing. While I may not always agree with those changes, it really is nice that there are new attractions, rides, and shows to look forward to and experience. But sometimes when thinking back to vacations when I was younger, I do miss certain things. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to find good pictures of the first two, but here’s my list:
- Skyway in the Magic Kingdom. Although it only took about 5 minutes, if you were afraid of heights this was a terrifying ride. Fortunately I was not, and I loved it. It was a fantastic way to get from Tomorrowland to Fantasyland (and back) without walking in the heat. And there was an amazing view too!
- Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride in the Magic Kingdom. It was a short, quirky dark ride based on The Wind in The Willows, and yes, they still have it in Disneyland. But I miss it in Florida.
- If You Had Wings in the Magic Kingdom. This ride was basically a commercial for now-defunct Eastern Airlines (who sponsored the attraction for several years), but the scenes were fun and the sensation of being on a plane taking flight was incredible. And for some reason it was always freezing – which was a welcome treat during the summer.

- The Timekeeper in the Magic Kingdom. With Robin Williams as the Timekeeper, Rhea Perlman as a robot named 9-Eye, and Jeremy Irons as H.G. Wells, it made for a delightful trip to the past – and to the future.

- Horizons at Epcot. I absolutely loved this 15-minute dark ride. When it opened in 1983 it quickly became my favorite attraction in Epcot. It was a loosely-related sequel to the Carousel of Progress that depicted different future scenes. I especially liked being able to choose the ending.
